My good friend Naomi May is a local designer with a lot of talent. When she asked me to come take behind the scene and runway pictures for her latest show, I was so flattered. I geared myself up for a night at the latest Sacramento hot spot Tre. It was a great turn-out and I’m so proud of Naomi and all that she’s done so far and can’t wait to see what’s next. Naomi custom designs all her clothes, so if you have something in mind or like what you see you can call her at (916) 217-1783.
Getting ready back-stage
Here’s Naomi doing her thing!
The runway was killer!

This March Tim and I celebrated 12 years of marriage. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long since we said “I do”, but two dogs, one cat and two kids later, we’re still going strong. Tim is my best friend and I’m so blessed to have him as my partner in this crazy thing called life.
Every year we try to get away for the weekend just the two of us. This year we decided to travel down to Monterey. I did some online research and found a Bed and Breakfast that looked perfect.
We started our trip with a visit to the Monterey Museum of Art (MMA) La Miradao where Angela Strassheim is currently featured. The location started as a modest stone adobe during the Mexican Period. It was later remodeled into an elegant home and estate where the great stars of the silent film era were entertained. The house is….shall we say…eclectically decorated.
We checked in at the Old Monterey Inn and it was as awesome in person as it was online, so that was a good thing. We did a little exploring of the grounds and enjoyed wine and appetizers in the main house.
Our next stop was the famous 17-mile drive at Pebble Beach. Neither of us had been as adults, so we wanted to catch it before the sun set.
After our breathtaking drive we headed over to Carmel by the Sea to have our official anniversary dinner at a fantastic restaurant – Casanova’s. We had a two hour meal (something that never happens at home) and discussed the art we saw, our lives together, the kids, family, and the future.
The next morning we woke to breakfast in bed complete with coffee and the newspaper delivered ahead of breakfast to our door.
Then it was back to reality. Everything is in bloom in the central valley, so my sweet understanding husband scoped out a fantastic spot to stop and capture the beauty and color of the San Joaquin Valley in spring.
For those of you who don’t know, my parents have property in the foothills of Northern California (Placerville to be exact). They have dogs, horses and goats. The best thing about their place is that my children get to experience country life and I don’t have to live on a farm. There’s just so much room for them to run and play up there. Okay, I’ll admit, I like it too; I did always want a horse as a little girl. We grew up in the suburbs of Phoenix, so I think it’s pretty cool that my kids get to quite literally go “over the river and through the woods” to Grandmother and Grandfathers house.
So the latest excitement on the farm revolves around one of my Mom and Dad’s dogs, Dolly. She had her first litter of puppies this winter. The little guys (and one gal) are so adorable and the kids have so much fun playing with them! Dolly is a Cavalier King Charles . You might recognize the breed as Charlotte’s beloved puppy on Sex and the City. Other famous Cavalier King Charles owners include Ronald Regan, Elizabeth Taylor, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Liv Tyler, Claire Danes, Diane Sawyer, Courtney Cox and Teri Hatcher to name a few. They are such sweet doggies. These little ones are about 6 weeks old and still too small to venture too far from their mother.
If you study the pictures, you can already see their little personalities forming. The last one looks crabby to me, although I did wake him up from his nap to take this picture. I guess I might look like that if you woke me up for a picture too!
