Citizen Hotel wedding | Downtown Sacramento | Daniel + Carol

Daniel and Carol are such a sweet couple, so easy going and laid back. I just knew their wedding was going to be great after spending time getting to know them over the course of their engagement. These guys are both serving our country in the Air Force working in the medical profession. Yes Mom, she married a doctor. But let’s not forget that Carol herself is a NP. Hello, can you say POWER couple?

The day was absolutely perfect. February in Sacramento can basically go three ways…foggy, rainy, or sunny. And I am very happy to report it was a very mild winter’s day with plenty of sunshine.

The wedding was in downtown Sacramento at the Citizen Hotel. The venue is beautiful! I actually recommend the hotel for boudoir sessions since the rooms are so lovely. I can safely say it’s a great place for weddings now too!

Before I go on to the pictures, I want to give a big shout out and note of thanks to my regular second shooter and partner in crime, Oliver of images by Oliver. He’s really great to work with and helps me ensure that not a single moment is ever missed. I ALWAYS shoot with a second, but this time I also had the opportunity to work with an assistant/third shooter, Gavin of Gavin Farrington photography. I am so blessed to work in a profession where people share knowledge and genuinely want to help and support one another.

And now the best part, the wedding pictures!

Carol’s daughter and son were both in the wedding. Here’s her daughter practicing her part reading Ephesians 3:14-19 for the ceremony.

One of the benefits of working with two photographers is that during the getting ready portion of the day, my second shooter can be capturing the action in the groom’s suite. Check out this great shot Oliver got of Daniel.

Carol and Daniel opted for a first look. If you don’t know what that is, it just means the couple sees each other before the ceremony to do their pictures. It takes some of the stress off the day and allows for less picture taking time after the ceremony (and less waiting time for the guests).

Because it was so nice, we were able to go outside and get some great urban images in and around the hotel.

That’s the Citizen right across the street. I promise I didn’t make them walk too far!

And I will say, I’m so glad we stopped at one of our rainy day back-up spots for these images. Carol just looks AMAZING.

Carol and her daughter also shared many special moments together throughout the day. You could really tell that both of the kids were happy to officially have Daniel in their lives.

For the record, this image was caught by Gavin. See now, I only work with the BEST because that’s what my brides and grooms deserve.

After the ceremony we ducked outside for some quick group shots before the light was completely gone.
