Maria grew up in Sacramento, and when her work presented her with an opportunity to move to the Pacific Northwest, she kissed her family goodbye to pursue her dreams working in politics. The family she left behind (her mother, brother and step-father) missed her greatly…especially her mother. And on a very regular basis, Maria’s mom would remind her how she didn’t have any recent family pictures. So this year, three years after she left, Maria and her brother decided to surprise Mom with a portrait session for Christmas. Maria would be making an appearance for the holidays, so this was the perfect opportunity for photographs.
Since we are both in Folsom and there are no shortages of beautiful places to photograph here, we decided to have our session in the Lake Natoma area by old town Folsom. Lake Natoma Inn is a beautiful venue and I had shot a wedding there before (you can see that post here), so I knew there was a great little path down to the Lake. We never made it to the water because it was pretty muddy, but we did manage to capture some of the great Folsom outdoors in our session.
I really have to say, this family was so much fun to work with. We laughed the whole time! And Harmon (the Dad) is quite a character. Take a look through the images and see if you can tell what I mean.
