Catholic Church Wedding | Backyard DIY reception | Megan and Brendan

I love a small town backyard wedding! There’s something so very special and intimate about having your wedding celebration in a place filled with so many family memories. For Megan and Brendan, every time they go to Mom’s house, not only will they be reminded of Megan’s past; but also, the start of their future together as man and wife. When they have a meal in the kitchen, they will remember all the hands that gathered to prepare food for their celebration. When they stroll through the backyard, they will remember the spot where they had their first dance as man and wife. And as they kiss under the tree, they will be transported to one of the happiest and most memorable days of their life.

Megan and Brendan had their ceremony with a full mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Colusa, a beautiful church where they both serve regularly. And although their vows were not exchanged in Mom’s backyard, the church where they were married felt just as warm and intimate. It completely matched the welcoming quaintness of the town. And on their wedding day it was packed full of family, friends, and loved ones, completing the circle of past, present, and future.

Small town by nature and heart, worldly in knowledge and travels, these two are perfectly poised to start their adventure as a married couple together with the roots of Colusa strongly holding them to the values they hold near and dear.

DIY Info:
The bride’s sister and cousin assisted with make-up. All the food was made by family and friends using secret family recipes. The cake topper and the flowers in the church and reception were done by a friend of the MOB with stems from Sam’s Club and Sierra Flowers. The bride and groom collected over 200 unique and eclectic plates. Table decor of cut greens (eucalyptus, rosemary, etc) from friend’s garden and pomegranates from MOB’s tree in the back yard. Recycled fences white-washed and attached with mason jars filled with candles and flowers by family and friends.
