Marriage is about family…regardless of the size. I truly believe that a strong family bond is at the heart of all successful marriages. Now that doesn’t mean all families are perfect; it just means that if the core of your family/inner circle is strong it makes things a little easier. Marriage is so much bigger than a wedding, or the bride and groom alone, it’s about family, friends, and loved ones lifting you up and supporting you in good and bad times. It’s about what unconditional love looks like…much like the love of a child.
When I first spoke to Laurie she told me that she and Eric both had children of their own. She also wanted to make sure I knew what a big part of the wedding they were; that made me so happy! Then you add the fact that this family was going to officially become one at a favorite venue of mine with a bed and breakfast wedding at the Heirloom Inn in Ione?! Let me tell you, I could not be more thrilled that I was the one who got the privilege of documenting their day!
The kids put together a routine for their Mom and Dad that I thought was one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen! The only part I didn’t see coming from these two was the way they “fed” each other cake at the end of the night…which also became a family affair. I love the way all the kids came to Laurie’s defense; but, I’ll let you see that for yourself. Sometimes…family can be messy!!
