The Cardin family holds a very special place in my heart. Nicole’s daughter Rachel is a previous bride of mine. I photographed both her and Fernando’s engagement and their wedding a few years ago. I remember a certain sense of warmth that surrounded me on that day; it was something extra special. I also knew that after the wedding Rachel would be moving back east with her new husband to start their life together as man and wife (Fernando was working on his residency there through the engagement).
I could tell how difficult it was for Nicole to say goodbye to her only daughter. So when I got a call that Rachel and Fernando were going to be in town with their newly expanded family for the holidays, I was so excited for the opportunity to spend some time with them again. And all the love and warmth I felt on the day Fernando and Rachel said “I do” I felt again the moment I walked through the front door. I could see the joy in Mom and Dad (now Grandma and Grandpa’s) eyes brought by having their whole family together again under one roof.
They say as your children grow-up and leave the house an eerie silence can set in. Well let me tell you, it was beautifully alive while I was there; and, I enjoyed every moment capturing their precious time together.
