When opportunity knocks…I listen. One of my fabulous couples, Sarah and Bill (who you will read more about in my next post), booked a wedding package that included an engagement session. It’s not really a destination wedding, but they are in the Bay area and I’m in Sacramento…so when we talked about locations we both almost simultaneously said “Napa” as our halfway point. And the date that worked best…my birthday weekend. I was so on it and booked Tim and I at the Cottage Inn in Calistoga. I’ve known my husband for quite a long time now and I know that and weekend away + no kids + a chance for an afternoon nap while I took pictures = perfection!
We love to stay in Bed and Breakfast accommodations and hadn’t been to one since our anniversary in March (you can see that post here). Everything was perfect…until Tim tried to commit murder/suicide by leaving the gas on in the fireplace! It was either that, or the four course dinner (plus dessert) we ate that had a wine accompaniments with each course and the extra glass we had after desert that was to blame. It was good that Calistoga is a small town and we were in walking distance of our cottage.
We missed the kids, but can honestly say it was nice just to focus on us and not worry about anything but good food, good wine, and great conversation.
Here are some images I took while were were away. Napa valley was in the middle of a full color change for the fall and so beautiful. I swear, California is one of the best places in the world to live!
The Inn had a nice little note waiting for me in the room and a bottle of sparkling wine (my favorite)
Now that’s what I’m talking about!
Wine country was fully decked out in fall colors.
I’ll never forget this road at the end of St. Helena from my very first visit to the area.
We visited a couple wineries on the way home. We spend the most time on Sunday wine tasting at Mumm. We loved it so much we became Club Vivant Members! So we will be back for sure.
I can’t wait to see what the next opportunity brings!
I'd love to visit the Napa Valley. I'm just back from a US trip and I'm planning my next visit already!!
What fun! Can't wait to see the photos from the engagement session.
It's awesome that you got to have such a great oppotunity for your birthday weekend! 🙂 Can't wait to see the images from the e-session!
Oh man… so jealous! Just looking at those photos I felt like I was on vacation. I really need to visit the Napa Vallery one of these days!
Wow, so incredibly jealous. That looks amazing, and I can't wait to see the engagement photos.
Nice shots here! Looks awesome!
Oh that sounds like just the perfect break! My husband and I have to wait til June to have child-free time away, but I'm counting down the days already!
These images are gorgeous and make me want to fly out for a holiday immediately.
My husband LOVES Mumm!!
