Yelena is a photographer and responsible for capturing other people’s moments, but for the last 7 years, she hasn’t really captured any of her own. So when Yelena called me for a portrait session, she said she was ready to spend some time on the other side of the camera.
The other reason for the shoot was that her mother (as many photographers’ mothers do) was constantly reminding Yelena that she didn’t have any pictures of her daughter. Apparantely, parental pressure works at all ages!
So Yelena and I headed out to Folsom Lake for a shoot rooted in nature, but still inspired by fashion.
It was a little windy, but as you are about to see, Yelena rocked the natural fan like a pro!
Can you believe that someone once told Yelena that she wasn’t photogenic?
Yelena was such a sport…she really glammed it up for the last several shots!
The water was freezing cold. But Yelena looked HOT!!
Hopefully we got a few Mom will like.
Thanks Yelena for bringing your beautiful spirit to this photo shoot. And anyone who tries to say you are not photogenic after looking at this post is completely out of their mind!
More of our session below in the slideshow.
The bokeh in the first one is super delish and the 5th one is stunning! These all rock!
Holy hotness. No I absolutely cannot believe that someone once told her she isn't photogenic. What an absolute LIE.
it's not just the photographer mother. parent's just like to tell you that you are fat. because the know they can. it's suppose to be endearing! the second photo in pink is my favorite and the one in blue where she is walking towards you is amazing!
Wow. She can strike a pose! Great job. I LOVE proving to so-called "unphotogenic" people that they are gorgeous.
Really nice stuff, Teresa. I loooove that last wrap dress she's wearing!
I love the bokeh in the first image! Wow! Such a beautiful session. 🙂
She's VERY photogenic and gorgeous. She needs to get in front of the camera more!
I love #4, 5, AND 6! So pretty and romantic. She could be a model.
Love the lighting in these shots. Really natural – and the composition is dead on.
loved the whole setup…..thanks for posting it coz i was planning to do a similar shoot for my sister and got some great ideas from this shoot….
