This March Tim and I celebrated 12 years of marriage. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long since we said “I do”, but two dogs, one cat and two kids later, we’re still going strong. Tim is my best friend and I’m so blessed to have him as my partner in this crazy thing called life.
Every year we try to get away for the weekend just the two of us. This year we decided to travel down to Monterey. I did some online research and found a Bed and Breakfast that looked perfect.
We started our trip with a visit to the Monterey Museum of Art (MMA) La Miradao where Angela Strassheim is currently featured. The location started as a modest stone adobe during the Mexican Period. It was later remodeled into an elegant home and estate where the great stars of the silent film era were entertained. The house is….shall we say…eclectically decorated.
We checked in at the Old Monterey Inn and it was as awesome in person as it was online, so that was a good thing. We did a little exploring of the grounds and enjoyed wine and appetizers in the main house.
Our next stop was the famous 17-mile drive at Pebble Beach. Neither of us had been as adults, so we wanted to catch it before the sun set.
After our breathtaking drive we headed over to Carmel by the Sea to have our official anniversary dinner at a fantastic restaurant – Casanova’s. We had a two hour meal (something that never happens at home) and discussed the art we saw, our lives together, the kids, family, and the future.
The next morning we woke to breakfast in bed complete with coffee and the newspaper delivered ahead of breakfast to our door.
Then it was back to reality. Everything is in bloom in the central valley, so my sweet understanding husband scoped out a fantastic spot to stop and capture the beauty and color of the San Joaquin Valley in spring.
